There are two 24 hour emergency vet hospitals in Philadelphia: Penn and VSEC. But they may not be that close if you live near Southwest or Northeast Philadelphia,

I also found 5 emergency vet hospitals in surrounding counties. Two of them are in New Jersey, the other 3 are in three different counties bordering Philadelphia.

The VSEC Conshohocken emergency vet hospital has an address of Ridge Pike, but it looks like the building is off of Ridge in an industrial park. Their hospital is about 45 minutes from my location in the Art Museum area. So this might only be a closer option if you live near the Roxborough and Chestnut Hill neighborhoods.

Their hospital is about 35 minutes from my location in the Art Museum area. The closest Philadelphia neighborhoods are Cobbs Creek and Overbrook.

Their hospital is about 25 minutes from my location in the Art Museum area and slightly northeast of Cherry Hill. The closest Philadelphia neighborhoods are Port Richmond and Bridesburg (use the Betsy Ross bridge), or Old City (use the Ben Franklin Bridge).

This is a very helpful list for anyone with a pet who has recently moved to the city. Or for anyone who has moved to a different neighborhood or is looking for a new vet for their beloved pets.

Animal Hospitals in Philadelphia by Neighborhood

Two of the veterinarians listed do not have a physical hospital location, but rather exclusively provide home visits. There is a third vet who also does home visits but also has a vet clinic. I’ll list the two home-visit-only vets first, and the third one immediately below.

For all of them, I also list the Yelp review ratings and the # of reviews, I also include the Google Business listing reviews.

The hospitals are grouped by neighborhood and I include the zip code where they are located. Finally, within in neighborhood grouping, I have the vets with the highest review ratings at the top of the list.

Reviews: Yelp versus Google reviews. I personally think Yelp stinks! There is a big disparity between the two reviews, Yelp is almost always lower, both in rating and in the total number of reviews.

I’m not sure how to interpret that, but I wanted to bring it to your attention. A few people can greatly bring down a review number, so the Google ratings with far more reviews may be the better metric.
