Introduction and Pets related posts that you can expect to see from this blog

Welcome to my first post and to the introduction of my blog. I have been a dog walker and pet sitter for about 10 years now. I started walking dogs in the summer of 2008. For almost a year, I only had two clients. In the summer of 2009 I took on my 3rd dog walking client and my first pet sitting client for a total of four clients. It took almost a year to double my clients. It may have started slow, but I eventually took on more clients and have been pretty busy since then. I will be posting articles on all aspects of dog walkingpet sitting and starting a pet business.

I also started taking on clients who needed their dog or cat boarded, as well as offering pet portraits. Photography was a passion of mine before getting laid off and I had invested a good bit of money in camera bodies, lenses, and tripods. As a result, I took portraits of my clients’ pets for free to show gratitude for their business. So currently, the services I offer are dog walking, pet sitting, pet portrait, and pet boarding.

Over the years, I have learned much through experience and I thought I’d share those experiences on pet care, hiring a pet service provider and advice for anyone who wants to start their own pet service business. Becoming a dog walker or pet sitter is not rocket science, however, a lot of things can and will go wrong. You need to be smart enough to notice and prevent potential problems and I’ve learned many things taking care of hundreds of pets. You would think it would be simple, but just when I thought I’d seen it all, something new happens. I have a very fertile reservoir of stories for future posts.

Specific topics:

I’m going to cover topics from dog harnesses (article on the Easy Walk Harness), dog walking safety tips and things to watch for while walking dogs, hiring a pet sitter or walker, running a pet care business (check out my 1st article about starting a pet business), information to share with your walker or sitter, pet care, and health, and much more. I’m not a dog trainer, dog behaviorist or veterinarian, but I do know more than the average person.

I believe my content will be insightful and I hope everyone who visits my site gets at least one useful thing from my writing. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
